You heard it here first
From a reliable source: contrary to a 1991 JAMA study published by a neurologist in New Jersey, there appears to be a looming shortage of neuro docs. In particular the VA is coming clean that they don't need more family practice physicians. They need more opthalmologists, neurologists, and neurosurgeons to cope with the aging population.

Slight correction. Medicine needs more GOOD neuro docs. Everywhere I have ever been there has been a shortage of neurologists, and even more acutely neurologists who actually try to help.
I don't know if it is the training or what, but many neurologist seem content to just make the diagnosis and fade away. Many don't wait around long enough to see if their recommendations even work!
God save the neurologist who makes the diagnosis and then follows through on the therapy.
